1) How are CanvasTree paintings made and to what quality?

All of the paintings our artists produce are hand painted starting with a blank canvas using high quality oils and linen canvas. Whether it is a reproduction of a masterpiece or a custom order painting, our artists spend the effort and time needed to painstakingly detail, stroke by stroke, your order to near perfection. Not all oil paintings are made the same. The quality of any oil painting is affected by the experience and talent of the artist as well as the time and effort spent on details. Unlike other grades of quality such as “economical”, “commercial”, “mid-level”, or “high”, CanvasTree specializes in museum quality oil paintings, the quality of which all paintings we produce are created. Our network of fine-art painters have 10 to 20 years of experience and spend weeks completing each order.

2) How long does it take to complete an order?

CanvasTree aims to have each order complete in approximately 30 business days from the time the order is placed. Most of this time is spent by our artists on the actual oil painting process, with the remainder of the time spent for drying and the order finalization process which includes the services of applying protective varnish, mounting, stretching, framing, engraving, and packaging.

3) What is included with a purchase of both a frame and painting?

5) How do I take proper care of my oil painting?

To protect your oil painting, it is important to coat the surface of the painting with a layer of Finishing Varnish to preserve it. The varnish coating protects the painting from dust and gives it a rich “wet” look that brings out the details and colors. Unfortunately, this varnish can only be applied once the oil painting has thoroughly dried, which typically takes around a year. However, upon completion of your oil painting, Canvas Tree coats your painting with a layer of Retouch Varnish, which protects and beautifies your painting while allowing it to “breath” until the oil painting has dried. After a year, it is recommended that you have a finishing varnish applied to your oil painting. You can do this yourself with the appropriate products from an art supply store or take it to be applied by a professional. Additionally, never cover your oil painting with glass, as this may trap moisture between the canvas and glass and cause mold to grow, which would be damaging to your artwork. 6) How secure is your website and the handling of account information?

All pages that handle personal information or payment processing are protected with secure socket layer (SSL) encryption. Additionally, we do not sell, trade, or rent any information associated with you to any third party. 7) What methods of payment are accepted?

We accept all major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Our payment processing is encrypted to ensure your credit card transactions are kept 100% secure.

8) Where is CanvasTree located and are there any places where you do not deliver to?

CanvasTree is a U.S. based company located in northern Virginia. Due to the high costs of shipping framed artwork internationally and overseas, we currently only deliver our products to within the 48 contiguous states.

9) What are the policies of CanvasTree for privacy, shipping, returns, etc…?

Questions about Custom Portrait Oil Paintings

11) How do I provide the photo I wish painted to CanvasTree?

When you fill out the custom order form, you will be given the option to click on an upload button to attach your primary and support photos. Alternatively, you can choose to send your photo’s through email or traditional mail.

12) The photo I want painted is not ideal, what services do you provide for making sure the image that is painted looks professional?

CanvasTree is committed to making your painting as beautiful as possible. We know that unless the submitted photograph is professionally taken in a studio or proper setting under ideal conditions, there will need to be some work done to make the submitted image look professional when handpainted on a canvas. We provide the following services upon request to ensure that the subject that is painted on canvas is both beautiful and professional looking and void of any imperfections that are present in the photo itself: – We can optimize the color balance, contrast and lighting – We can remove undesired or distracting objects – We can replace the photo background for a studio background of your choice – We can combine persons from two different photos onto one painting – We can paint color for black and white submitted photos – We can ensure no photo damages are captured in the painting – We can remove wrinkles and skin imperfections and whiten teeth – We can change the color of any article of clothing or object – You can also provide any special instructions for our artist

13) How does CanvasTree ensure 100% satisfaction with custom oil paintings?

After completion of your custom oil painting by our artist and prior to delivery, we will send you an image of the painting via email so that you can inspect it in detail and let us know if there are any modifications you wish to be made. While the vast majority of our customers are completely satisfied on the first review, if any modifications are requested we will send you an updated image for review once our artist has made the requested changes. We will ship your framed oil painting only after you are 100% satisfied.

Questions about Oil Painting Masterpiece Reproductions

14) Do you have any paintings in stock that we can order for quick delivery?

CanvasTree does not carry any paintings in stock. All paintings created by CanvasTree are handpainted by order of our customers. Because we only produce museum quality oil paintings, the time and effort required to produce each oil painting is quite significant. This does not make the creation of stock a practical option for us. Additionally, we feel our customers value knowing that the order they place will result in a painting being handpainted from a blank canvas to an oil masterpiece just for them.

15) I would like a specific painting to be reproduced, but I can not find it on your website. What do I do?

If there is a painting you wish for us to reproduce, kindly provide us the name of the artist and title of the artwork. We have access to an extensive archive of oil painting masterpieces and can create a museum quality reproduction once we have the needed information. Please be aware though that CanvaseTree will not be able to reproduce oil painting masterpieces that are under copyright. Generally, the work of any artist who was alive within the past 70 years carries an active copyright held by their estate. If you are unsure if a copyright is in place, provide us the artist name and artwork information and we will research for you. 16) How close to the original masterpiece will my ordered reproduction be?

Our experienced artists spend great effort and time to make each oil painting a museum quality masterpiece. When finished, the oil painting will be nearly indistinguishable with the original. Our confidence in this is backed by our 100% money back guarantee.
